Laser Surgery Co-Management
Freedom from wearing contact lenses and glasses is possible with laser eye surgeries.
Following a comprehensive eye examination, our optometrists will determine if you are a candidate for procedures such as PRK, LASIK, SMILE, ICL, or RLE. If suitable, our doctors will facilitate a referral to an experienced surgeon to perform the surgery and we will subsequently oversee your post-operative care, monitoring corneal healing and prescription adjustments.
PRK or Photorefractive Keratectomy is the first generation of laser vision correction technology. PRK uses an excimer laser to reshape the cornea and correct nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism.
LASIK or Laser-Assited In Situ Keratomileusis is a type of laser eye surgery that corrects refractive error by reshaping the cornea through a corneal flap. This is the most common laser correction procedure in the world.

SMILE or SMall Incision Lenticule Extraction is a flapless and minimally invasive procedure which leaves the surface of the cornea almost untouched. This procedure is the most recent advancement in the field of Laser Vision Correction.
ICL or Intraocular Collamer Lens is a thin intraocular lens designed to rest in front of the eye’s natural lens, just behind the iris. This procedure is a great option for patients with high amounts of myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism who do not qualify for laser vision correction.
RLE or Refractive Lens Exchange is a procedure identical to cataract surgery but with no cataract present. This procedure changes the focusing power of the eye by replacing the eye’s natural lens with a thin intraocular lens to provide good distance vision, good reading vision, or both. RLE is an excellent procedure to patients over the age of 40, because it can correct presbyopia (loss of reading vision), nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism.
